Over a half-century ago, in the days of the old cold-set wagon lubricants, grease-making was an art and not yet a science. One of the old products, a mica axle grease, was said by stockmen to be a miraculous healer of wounds, abscesses and almost every other livestock injury they encountered. It apparently took the pain out of everything, and was so effective that old-timers used it on themselves as well as their animals.

No one ever really discovered why, though modern technology provides a few theories, and until recently no one was ever successful in duplicating the old greases.

In 1979 Willow Animal Research was given a very old tin of this grease. Intrigued by the stories they had heard, they decided to experiment with it. There test herd provided ample opportunity, and after the first year they found themselves looking for something the old grease would not do. In that time it had literally replaced two-thirds of their stable `pharmacy.'

For two more years Willow Animal Research searched for ways to duplicate it. Lab analyses were useless, but they had some idea of the old process and set out to create the same or a similar product by trial and error. Each test batch was tried on various injuries, and the failures were numerous before they finally got results. Early in 1984 they had a grease that passed all of the tests, and did everything that the old wagon grease would do.

They didn't know why it worked and we still don't. Willogard Grease is not a drug or a medicine. They did discover that if one thing was varied in putting it together, even the temperature, it would not produce the same results.

It is wholly natural, contains no chemicals and is non-toxic. It has never harmed even the eyes or internal membranes of livestock.
